X Appearance: Modest and rather unassuming, there is nothing visible about the man known as "Red-Haired" Shanks that would suggest him to be the savage and soulless pirate suggested by the worth stated on his wanted poster. He stands tall at an easy six-foot-one, built with a light and athletic frame, modestly muscled and slim. His attire is nothing lavish or dark either, usually consisting of a loose-fit white shirt, wide-legged slacks with a island print, a flowing black cloak neatly wrapped across his slender shoulders, and a pair of open-toed sandals on his feet. He typically wears a broad smile on his face, unless otherwise occupied with bursting laughter or taking a comfy nap beneath the shade of palm trees on some exotic, tropical island. It is only once one has the opportunity to watch him in action, the blinding swiftness of his sword and the terrible, heart-stopping power emitted by his very presence, that it can be understood why this modest man is truly one to be feared.

X Abilities: As one of the most widely-feared individuals sailing the seas of his respective world, Shanks possesses an extraordinary amount of strength, both physical and manifested through a will-infused energy called 'Haki'. Not only is the man able to physically outmatch towering giants and creatures hundreds of times his size, but he literally exudes such raw force that your average man will instantly pass out within twenty feet under the pressure of his very presence. His speed is equally as monstrous, and his ability to withstand pain allows him to take nothing short of a fatal wound before flinching. He is also very skilled with a sword, talented enough to cross blades with the world's strongest swordsman; pirates will tell tales of Shanks' earth-shaking daily duels with his world-famous rival for decades to come.

X Personality: Shanks is a difficult man to pin down, due to the great complexities in his typical behavior. Despite his power and fearsome reputation, he is kind, rather wise, and utterly happy-go-lucky. He possesses a strongly optimistic view of the world, and believes so strongly in his ideals that he will go to any lengths or make any sacrifices necessary, no matter how ridiculous they may seem to others. Shanks believes that, sometimes, it takes a stronger man not to fight, and has been noticed to laugh off insults directed at him. It is when others insult his friends, though, that his terrible anger is incited.

Taking no small amount of pleasure in lazy days, Shanks has been spotted lounging casually on the beach beneath the shade cast by palm trees while the rest of his crew party and drink to their heart's content. He has no objections to being the center of the fun, but seems to prefer talking more casually with close friends over a good, stiff drink. When dealing with his pirate colleagues, he displays great courtesy towards even heated rivals, extending a heartfelt welcome before getting down to business. He can be a little too casual at times, though, and sometimes succumbs to comedic reactions when surprised.

X Strengths: Confident and quick-witted, Shanks is a sharp fighter who works on instinct combined with experience and training. He possesses monstrous physical strength, speed, and endurance, and his spirits simply cannot be dampened.
X Weaknesses: No matter what, Shanks is still only human. He can be made to bleed like any other man, and his kind heart may potentially leave him vulnerable. He also seems rather gullible from time to time, and tends not to take things seriously enough.
